Arduino Air Compressor Project

 

Many years ago, a Harbor Freight air compressor was purchased. The air compressor (like most) has a pressure switch as well as several brass components that feed into the tank and the sensor which tell the air compressor when to turn on and off the compressor. Over the years the brass parts broke down and eventually the switch failed all together.

 

So instead of purchasing new parts (which ended up being discontinued) I decided to wire up an electrical pressure sensor to a brass T fitting that was installed inline and feed that data to a microcontroller which operated a high voltage relay. This also allowed me to program at what PSI I wanted the compressor to turn on and off at which I was not able to do before.

This is an isometric exploded view of the case assembly. The Prototype PCB is built outside of the case.
